Mid North Coast Meeting – “Make Your Vote Count”

Our first 2019 meeting will be held on Tuesday, 26 February 2019 commencing at 10am at Port Panthers. Due to renovations at Panthers, our meeting will convene in The Basement which can also be accessed via the carpark.  The meeting will finish around 12.15pm.  Theme for this meeting is “Make Your Vote Count” since in March we will all be at election booths casting our ballots to determine who will govern in NSW.

Trevor Khan MLC Deputy President & Chair of Committees will be Guest Speaker. He will give us an update on NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation. (Pictured above (left) with DWD’s Vice President, Shayne Higson).

Other guests include:

  • Shayne Higson, Vice President of Dying with Dignity NSW and lead upper house candidate for the Voluntary Euthanasia Party in the upcoming 23 March Election;
  • Drusi Megget – The Greens candidate for the seat of Port Macquarie;
  • Peter Alley – The Country Labor candidate for the seat of Port Macquarie; and
  • Leslie Williams – The Nationals Sitting Member for the seat of Port Macquarie.

With 21 Legislative Council seats to be determined at the March 2019 election, it is timely for Paul Newman, a Leadership Team stalwart, to recap how elected representatives voted on the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017 with a view to informing how we will need to vote to ensure the legislation is passed when it’s next debated. “Make Your Vote Count”!
