Rowan joined the DWD community and Board in 2025 after becoming involved in advocacy for VAD following his mother's death through VAD in August 2024. She was a textbook case in the liberation and agency that controlling one's own death can bring for the individual and their family and friends. Rowan has taken up the mission of helping others be aware of this option, as well as providing support as a Griefline volunteer.
After studying a MA MEng in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cambridge University Rowan had a 20-year career in project management within the construction sector in the UK and Australia.
Now though, he is studying for a Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling, and is in the process of pivoting to work with people in need of mental health support, possibly including a specific focus on Grief and Loss.
When not studying or advocating around end of life issues, you can find Rowan looking after all the dogs, or running huge distances on picturesque bushland trails.
